The Parish Church Council

1. The PCC has responsibility for determining, monitoring and reviewing the policies, plans and procedures by which St. Mary’s operates.

2. The parish priest is responsible for the implementation of policy, and works with the churchwardens in the management and operation of the day to day running.

3. All PCC members have equal status. Although appointed in different ways, all members will be concerned with the welfare of the church as a whole.

4. PCC members cannot act individually unless specifically asked to do so by the PCC.

5. The PCC must act fairly and without prejudice. Where there is responsibility for staff, the PCC must fulfil all the legal expectations on behalf of the church.

6. The PCC should encourage open, prayerful council. Decisions made should be clear and transparent.

7. The PCC should carefully consider the possible implications and effects of decisions on St. Mary’s.
