Maundy Thursday 17th April 2025
Join us at 7.30pm for a special Holy Communion Service with the choir. Maundy Thursday marks the night when Jesus shared a supper with his friends on the night of his arrest. It was during this supper that Jesus washed his disciples' feet, teaching them to be the servant of all. As the meal began he took bread, broke it, and shared it with them. Towards the end of the meal he took wine, poured it out and shared it amongst them. This meal was to become the hallmark of the first Christian communities. Jesus asked his friends to remember him in bread and wine which became the basis of the service we know as Holy Communion. The Maundy Thursday service ends abruptly with no procession to mark the end of the service. This is a reminder that after his arrest Jesus' friends fled in confusion and fear leaving him alone to face trial.
