Strings at St Peter's
Vale Royal Strings present a programme of baroque music at St Peter's, Little Budworth. Saturday 14th March at 7pm. Tickets on the door Adult £18, Child £8.
The concert is a rare opportunity to hear Paganelli’s concerto for chalumeau with a string orchestra in the wonderful acoustic of St Peter’s Little Budworth.
The chalumeau is the forerunner of the clarinet. David Stockill who is the principal clarinettist of Chester Philharmonic Orchestra will be the soloist using an instrument from his collection of chalumeaux.
Ed Holmes will be the violin soloist in Bach’s violin concerto in E major. This is one of the three violin concertos that Bach wrote with the outer lyrical movements being full of joy in contrast to the melodic slow middle movement. Ed is a graduate of Royal Northern College of Music.
The other items on the programme are La Bouffonne suite by Telemann, CPE Bach’s Symphony in G major, Vivaldi’s Sinfonia in G, Corelli’s violin sonatas as Concerto Grossi No 5 arranged by Francesco Germiniani for String Orchestra.
Mark Lansom will direct the orchestra through the concert. Mark is head of strings at The Kings School Chester and is a composer and arranger. He conducts the St John’s Festival Orchestra in Chester and Wrexham Symphony Orchestra
The Vale Royal String Orchestra was founded in 1993. The members of the Orchestra are dedicated experienced non- professionals who love rehearsing and performing music written for the unique sound of the String Orchestra.
